State Department Expels Two Russian Embassy Officials

The U.S. Department of State has expelled two Russian embassy officials from the United States, responding in kind to Russia removing two American diplomats from America’s embassy in Moscow. Russia’s state-owned news agency the RIA announced the expulsion of the diplomats on September 14, claiming that the diplomats were “caught red-handed engaging in spying activities.” Thus far, Russia has provided no evidence to support its reasoning.

“The Department will not tolerate the Russian government’s pattern of harassment of our diplomats,” a State Department spokesman said, adding that “unacceptable actions against our Embassy personnel in Moscow will have consequences.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Blinken to be discerning in responding to Russia’s actions.
  • For the president and administration officials as they assess the relationship and interactions with Russia.
